Verb to Be en negativo.

 El verbo to be (ser/estar): forma negativa.

A continuación vamos a ver la negativa del pasado del verbo to be. Es tan sencillo como añadir not después de was o were. ¡Y más sencillo aun es usar la contracción! Utilizamos wasn’t para decir was not y weren’t para were not.

 

 

No olvides que, como el verbo to be significa ser o estar, las traducciones al castellano variarán según el contexto. Por ejemplo:

 

 

• We weren’t there se traduce por: Nosotros/as no estábamos/estuvimos allí.
• We weren’t happy se traduce por: Nosotros/as no fuimos/éramos felices.

Las conjugaciones del verbo to be negativo son muy simples, en casi todas se aplica el principio de añadir “not” al lado del verbo. Básicamente, la fórmula para negar sería la siguiente:

➔ Pronombre + verbo to be + not

Si antes te mostramos las formas de contraer el verbo to be negativo en distintos tiempos verbales, ahora es importante que tengas una lista para conjugar el verbo to be negativo de forma clásica.

Pasado simple

1. I am not your student (no soy tu estudiante).

2. You are not a bad person (no eres una mala persona).

3. You weren’t there (no estabas allí).

4. Maria was not in the park (María no estaba en el parque).

5. The phone is not in the cabinet (el teléfono no está en el armario).

6. You will not be at work tomorrow (no estarás en el trabajo mañana).

7. I’m not 45 years old (no tengo 45 años).

8. The morning was not so hot (la mañana no fue tan calurosa).

9. You were not at the hotel (no estabas en el hotel).

10. We are not together (no estamos juntos).
